Dolpo, located in the remote western region of Nepal, is one of the last truly untouched Himalayan destinations. This mystical land remained closed to foreigners until 1989 and still retains its ancient Tibetan Buddhist culture and pristine natural beauty.

The region is home to the Dolpo-pa people, who practice a form of Buddhism that predates Tibetan Buddhism, preserving traditions that have disappeared elsewhere. Trekking through Dolpo is like stepping back in time, where salt caravans still traverse ancient trade routes and medieval villages remain unchanged for centuries.

Dolpo's isolation has protected its unique ecosystems, making it a sanctuary for rare wildlife including the elusive snow leopard, blue sheep, and Himalayan black bear. The region was featured in the Oscar-nominated film "Himalaya" and Eric Valli's book "The Dolpo-Pa".
